More about us

Our mile-long trail is scarier than other local haunts, earning the nickname "pants-wetting" from multiple customers. The prepared trail is self-guided along a cordoned pathway, dimly-lit, with actors around every corner (even above you). Being self-guided, you are forced to face your fears head-on, anticipation slowly building with each step you take. Before tackling the trail, there is a covered pavilion, campfires, and picnic tables to enjoy the concessions.

The trail's main goal is to support local scouting Troop 342, with 85% of our proceeds covering costs for items for our scouts, like uniforms, food, camping equipment, summer camps, and any other supplies they may need.
The other portion of our proceeds supports the Sumter Elks Lodge and their educational grants, for example: recently donating over $17,000 to Central Carolina Technical College!

We have had guests from multiple other countries visit our haunted attraction, including Spain, Mexico, and Germany.

Testimonials from our happy spooked customers

From the moment we arrived, the entire atmosphere was spooky but fun... Huge shoutout to Mike and the entire Terror Trail crew for making this such a special, family-friendly experience.

Kimberly W.

They put so much work into the event and made it such a great experience. I really loved all the creepy dressed people hanging out in the woods. I loved how there was someone around throughout the entire event, including guys directing traffic.

Many things go bump in the night - eerie whispers, phantom footsteps and the coarse rustle of leaves against the cold ground. But in Sumter, it's not just ghostly apparitions that send shivers down our spine... The beloved Halloween attraction Terror Trail at Second Mill Pond.

Alay M.

Every year, the Boy Scout troop of Shaw Air Force Base puts on the Terror Trail at Second Mill Pond. The cast of costumed actors is largely pre-teen and teenage troop members... Support the Boy Scouts and Elks Lodge charities while getting your adrenaline going with a good scare on the trail... While you're waiting to see if you can survive the trip, there is a covered pavilion, campfires and picnic tables, along with hot soups/snacks, cookies, chips and hot/cold drinks.

Want a little fright in your night? Don’t miss out on this year’s Terror Trail at Second Mill Pond. These photos show just some of the work put in by the evil geniuses... You can't imagine the spine-chilling surprises that await you at night.

FAQS

How much does it cost?

$19 per person.

Is it a walking or driving trail? How long is it?

The trail is about a 1-mile walk.

Is there parking?

Yes! We have easy-access parking, with marshals.

What's your average wait time?

The average wait time is less than 25 minutes. But on our busiest nights, the longest wait could be up to 45 minutes.

How long does the trail take to walk?

30-45 minutes (depending on how scared you are)

Is the trail kid-firendly?

Yes! Our actors will cater their scaring experience for each group of guests.

Can the actors touch me?

No! All actors have been trained to not touch our customers.

Can I bring a stroller/wheelchair?

No. The trail is too narrow, and the uneven mulch is not suitable for wheeled devices. Steps and roots would cause issues for those customers.

What kind of footwear should I bring?

Closed-toed shoes are strongly encouraged. We do not recommend flip-flops, sandals, heels, Crocs, slides etc... You will be walking through the woods, and the possibility of getting injured, something in your shoes, or losing one is likely.

Can I bring pets?

No. For the safety of our actors and other customers, we ask that all guests refrain from bringing any pets. We will not allow any animals on the trail.
